Training Attendance Criteria

 

In order to ensure JAVR provide the best possible training for its members and ensure the safety of participants the following criteria are in place for each of the main training sessions.

General conditions:

7-10's have access to the monthly 7-10 training session at Southwick Country Park.

11+ can attend the weekly training session at Bath University Track.

Invited athletes can attend the additional session on a Monday night.

All juniors can attend the monthly Dash and 2k timed run on the last Saturday of the month at Southwick Country Park.

Criteria for 7-10’s being able to attend Wednesday evening sessions:

  • Juniors must have participated in a minimum of 6 x JAVR 2km races and also attended 6 x monthly coaching sessions.
  • Junior’s must be showing an interest in racing in local fixtures, County competitions, GWENT XC league.
  • Juniors must be affiliated with JAVR and also have EA membership?
  • Qualifying time over 2km – sub 9:00 (this time may need to come down to 8:45 in the fullness of time).
  • A discussion between the junior, parent and JAVR coaching team must take place prior to attending on a Wednesday.
  • It should be the aspiration of the junior to attend and not their parents!

 

Criteria for juniors attending Monday evening sessions:

  • Juniors must regularly be attending on a Wednesday evening.
  • Juniors should be able to run sub 25 minutes for 5km/parkrun on a regular basis.
  • Juniors should be running 2-3 x per week.
  • Juniors must be affiliated with JAVR and also have EA membership?
  • Those attending should have a genuine interest in running and want to improve their times.
  • Those attending must be regularly competing and should be showing interest to compete in Wiltshire Junior Road Race fixtures, GWENT XC, County fixtures and support club events/competitions.
  • Monday evenings is based on invite only. Due to coaching capacity and limited facilities we don’t have capacity for high numbers. The coaches delivering the sessions need to be fully confident that those attending will behave in such a fashion that they don’t put themselves or anyone else in the group at risk.
  •  A discussion between the junior, parent and JAVR coaching team must take place prior to attending on a Monday.
  • It should be the aspiration of the junior to attend and not their parents!
